Fortnite FPS on our refurbished gaming PCs: what each build can do

How many FPS each of our refurbished gaming PCs gets in Fortnite at 1080p, from the GTX 750 4GB to the GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 8GB, plus the best settings to use.

Fortnite is one of the games our customers ask about most, so this guide gives realistic, deliberately conservative frame rates for every PC we sell. It also covers the settings to use and which build to pick if Fortnite is your main game.

The short answer: every one of our PCs runs Fortnite. The GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 8GB builds are the ones to choose for smooth, high frame rates, while the GTX 750 4GB builds are fine for casual play in Performance mode on a standard 60Hz monitor.

How we worked out these numbers

All figures are for 1920 x 1080 (1080p) with 8GB of RAM, the standard memory in every build. They are based on published tests of these graphics cards, adjusted downwards to allow for our older processors and for game updates that have made some titles more demanding over the years. We would rather you get more than we promise, not less. Busy moments will always run lower than quiet ones, so we give a range rather than a single number, and exact results can vary with game updates and drivers.

Fortnite FPS by graphics card

Graphics cardPerformance mode (recommended)DirectX 11, LowDirectX 11, Medium
GTX 750 4GB60–85 FPS40–55 FPSNot recommended
GTX 1060 6GB90–130 FPS70–95 FPS55–75 FPS
RX 580 8GB85–125 FPS65–90 FPS50–70 FPS

Expect dips of around 20–30% below these ranges in the busiest moments, such as landing in a popular spot or late-game build fights.

Does the processor make a difference?

Yes, more in Fortnite than in most esports games. Fortnite leans heavily on the processor, especially in Performance mode, where the graphics card has less work to do. Our i7-4770 and i7-3770 builds sit towards the top of each range, the i5-4570 and i7-2600 in the middle, and the i5-3470 towards the bottom. The i7 processors run 8 threads rather than 4, which helps keep things steadier when a lot is happening on screen, or when Discord or a browser is open in the background.

Best Fortnite settings for our PCs

  • Rendering mode: Performance. Epic designed Performance mode for lower-powered PCs. It simplifies the graphics and gives the biggest FPS boost, especially on the GTX 750 4GB builds. You will find it under Settings, Video, Rendering Mode, and the game restarts to apply it.
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080. On a GTX 750 4GB build, lowering the 3D resolution slider to around 85–90% gives a few extra frames for a small drop in sharpness.
  • View distance: Medium or higher. Going lower saves very little performance and makes distant players harder to spot.
  • Frame rate limit: match your monitor. Set it to 60 on a 60Hz monitor or 144 on a 144Hz monitor. A steady frame rate feels smoother than one that jumps up and down.
  • Close what you don’t need. Browsers with lots of tabs use a surprising amount of memory, which matters most on the standard 8GB of RAM.

60Hz or 144Hz monitor?

If your monitor is 60Hz, which includes most standard monitors and TVs, every one of our builds can hold around 60 FPS in Performance mode for most of a match. If you have, or plan to buy, a 144Hz monitor, choose a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB build, ideally with an i7 processor, to get as close to it as possible.

Worth knowing before you buy

  • 16GB of RAM: Fortnite runs on 8GB, but the 16GB upgrade makes a noticeable difference if you keep Discord, a browser or streaming software open while you play.
  • Storage: Fortnite is a large install that grows with updates. Our standard 120GB SSD holds Windows and a game or two; if Fortnite is your main game, the larger SSD upgrade means it always loads from the faster drive.
  • Tournaments: Since February 2026, Epic has required Secure Boot, TPM and IOMMU to be switched on to enter Fortnite tournaments on PC. Normal matches are not affected. Older PCs like ours may not support all three, so if you plan to play cash cups or other tournaments, message us before you buy and we will tell you honestly whether a build can meet the requirements.
