PC buying guide
Not sure which gaming PC is right for you? Start here. This short guide will help you find the right one.
Start with your budget
Your budget sets the level of performance. A bigger budget generally buys smoother gameplay at higher settings and resolutions. Our PCs are grouped by graphics card, so you can start with what you are comfortable spending.
- GTX 750 gaming PCs: our most affordable PCs, a good fit for 1080p esports and lighter games.
- RX 580 and GTX 1060 gaming PCs: for higher settings at 1080p in esports and bigger games.
Choose your screen
Your monitor matters as much as the PC. 1080p (Full HD) is the most common and the easiest to run. 1440p looks sharper and needs a stronger graphics card. 4K looks best but is the most demanding. If you already own a monitor, check its resolution and refresh rate before you choose.
Think about the games you play
Competitive games such as Fortnite, Valorant and Counter-Strike 2 run well on modest hardware, so a smaller budget can go a long way. Big, detailed modern games ask more of the graphics card, so it is worth spending more if those are your favourites.
Check the basics
Every product page lists the full specification. For gaming, these are the parts that matter most:
- Graphics card (GPU): does most of the work in games. This is the part to prioritise.
- Processor (CPU): should be a good match for the graphics card so neither holds the other back.
- Memory (RAM): 8GB comes as standard and handles esports games well. Choose the 16GB option if you play bigger modern games.
- Storage: an SSD makes Windows and your games load much faster than a hard drive.
Our PCs
Each PC is named after its graphics card, the part that matters most for gaming, followed by its processor.
- GTX 750 4GB: light gaming, older games and esports at lower settings.
- RX 580 8GB: smooth 1080p gaming in esports titles and many bigger games, with 8GB of graphics memory.
- GTX 1060 6GB: the fastest graphics card in our range, for the highest frame rates at 1080p in esports titles and bigger games.
